The federal government has decided to impose an additional financial burden of billions of rupees on electricity consumers under the quarterly tariff adjustment mechanism.

According to reports, Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has submitted an application to Nepra seeking recovery of Rs. 6 billion, citing increased capacity charges, operational, and maintenance costs.

Nepra has scheduled a hearing on November 6 to review the petitions filed by various power distribution companies. If approved, the revised rates will be recovered from consumers in upcoming bills.
