Islamabad, July 29, 2025: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has fixed August 4 as the date for a public hearing to consider a possible discount in electricity prices under the quarterly tariff revision for April to June 2025.

Sources revealed that the suggested revision covers charges related to power generation capacity, transmission services, and market operations. Distribution companies (DISCOs) are collectively seeking a reduction of Rs. 53.93 billion in electricity costs.

Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has submitted the largest claim for Rs. 15.97 billion, with Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) following at Rs. 12.75 billion. On the lower end, Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO) has applied for a Rs. 2.55 billion adjustment.

NEPRA has called on all relevant stakeholders and affected consumers to share their concerns before the hearing. While the final ruling is pending, any approval is expected to lead to a discount in electricity bills nationwide.
