Islamabad, Oct 24: After paying too much in September, power users could expect to receive a refund of Rs. 0.7057 per unit on their November 2024 electricity bills.
This reimbursement has been suggested by Ex-Wapda distribution companies (XWDISCOs) for the November billing month.
To complete the September fuel price adjustment (FCA), the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted a petition to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
To determine whether the proposed adjustment is warranted and to make sure power dispatch complied with the economic merit order (EMO), NEPRA has set a public hearing for October 30.
With the exception of lifeline customers, families using up to 300 units, electric vehicle charging stations, pre-paid energy users, and agricultural consumers, all consumer groups will receive the reimbursement provided it is authorized.
Electricity Prices After a continuous 18-month sequence of increases, this would be the third consecutive month of FCA reductions.
Electricity Prices NEPRA ordered distribution companies to reimburse Rs. 0.369 per unit in the September bills as part of the FCA ruling in July. The FCA stayed positive from January 2023 to June 2024, which led to more fees for customers, which peaked in January 2024 at Rs. 7.05 per unit.
According to the CPPA’s petition, a reimbursement of Rs. 0.7057 is likely because the reference fuel rates for September were Rs. 9.8006 per unit, but the actual expenses were Rs. 9.0949 per unit.
