Elon Musk has announced that SpaceX’s upcoming Starship rockets will surpass the height of the Great Pyramid of Giza. The current Starship, standing at an impressive 120 meters tall, holds the distinction of being the tallest and most powerful rocket ever constructed, capable of generating a massive 7.5 million kilograms of thrust.
Musk envisions the next iterations of Starship to be even taller, reaching around 140 meters. For context, the Great Pyramid of Giza, the largest of the Egyptian pyramids, stands at 137 meters tall.
Designed with ambitious goals in mind, the Starship will serve as a crucial tool for transporting crew and cargo to the Moon as part of NASA’s Artemis program. Its ultimate objective is to aid in the establishment of a human colony on Mars.
Nonetheless, a significant challenge remains in developing a dependable and reusable heat shield for the Starship. This shield is essential for the rocket to endure the extreme heat it will face during re-entry into the Earth’s atmosphere.
