Islamabad, Sep 7: Due to an elbow injury, England fast bowler Mark Wood will not play in the forthcoming Test series against Pakistan.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced that Wood will not play in the series against New Zealand and Pakistan.
Wood suffered an elbow injury during the West Indies series, according to the ECB statement, but he was able to play in the next Test match against Sri Lanka.
Medical scans have shown that Wood has a bone stress injury of the right elbow. “He had noticed increasing stiffness and discomfort in his elbow during the Test series against the West Indies earlier in the summer,” the ECB stated.
Mark Wood intends to be fully healthy by early 2025, but he will miss England’s next winter Test matches to Pakistan in October and New Zealand in December, according to the ECB.
The pacer posted on Instagram, saying, “I was shocked to learn I’ve got some bone stress in my right elbow during what I thought was a routine check on a previously troublesome elbow.”
My elbow was a little inflamed, so the medical staff and I decided it would be a good idea to have it checked out. I would attribute that to the typical aches and pains that fast bowlers experience, which I was managing to endure.
He went on, “This is even more disappointing because I work really hard to maintain my fitness and put in extra work with coaches and physios.” I need time to recover and refuel, therefore I will skip the remainder of the year.
I fully anticipate returning to work in early 2025.I’ve been here before, so I’ll put in all the hard work in the background.
Nothing makes me feel more pleased to represent my nation than I do. In 2025, we’ll see you for some rockets!
