Islamabad, Sep 26: Ericsson is set to highlight its 5G innovations for railways at InnoTrans, a leading trade fair for transport technology.
The company will showcase its 5G Corridor and Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS), aimed at revolutionizing rail communications.
5G Corridors, deployed along railway lines, will offer gigabit speeds to passengers, enabling uninterrupted streaming, working, and real-time communication during journeys. These technologies also enable rail operators to enhance onboard services like live travel updates and infotainment.
FRMCS, designed to replace the outdated GSM-R system, uses LTE and 5G to enable real-time communication between trains, improving both safety and operational efficiency. Developed with industry partners, FRMCS is poised to elevate railway standards globally.
Ericsson’s Magnus Packendorff, Head of Mission Critical, emphasized the transformative potential of these technologies, stating that 5G and FRMCS will drive a new era in rail communications. By enabling advanced connectivity, Ericsson aims to support the evolution of rail systems, benefiting passengers, operators, and the broader transport industry.
At InnoTrans, which attracts over 130,000 visitors from more than 130 countries, Ericsson will also participate in the InnoTrans Convention, featuring discussions on innovations like Germany’s Gigabit Innovation Track (GINT) project
