Islamabad 30 July: Seventeen countries, along with the European Union and the Arab League, have endorsed a joint declaration at a United Nations conference aimed at reviving the long-stalled two-state solution for Israel and Palestine.
The seven-page document calls for an end to the war in Gaza and outlines steps toward the creation of a sovereign and independent Palestinian state. A key demand in the declaration is for Hamas to relinquish control of Gaza and hand over its weapons to the Palestinian Authority, under international supervision and with global support.

“In the context of ending the war in Gaza, Hamas must end its rule in Gaza and hand over its weapons to the Palestinian Authority, with international engagement and support,” the declaration stated.
The agreement represents one of the most unified international efforts in recent years to press for a political resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It also signals growing impatience among global powers over the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the lack of progress toward peace.
