Islamabad, Dec 12: The government has made a significant move towards implementing the Electric Vehicles (EV) Policy by announcing the installation of EV charging stations at all petrol pumps in Islamabad.
During the fourth meeting on the EV Policy, chaired by Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain, progress on various initiatives was reviewed. The minister instructed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to ensure the installation of charging stations at every petrol pump in the capital, commending the authority for its efforts.
Rana Tanveer also revealed that the top 120 students from the Federal Board would be given free electric bikes. Furthermore, the government plans to offer 39,000 electric bikes and 19,000 electric rickshaws on subsidized loans to encourage the adoption of EVs.
The meeting also discussed the development of 40 charging stations along motorways and national highways, emphasizing the importance of transparency through digitalization. Minister Hussain reaffirmed the Prime Minister’s vision to make Islamabad a model city.
