Karachi police have arrested a man involved in a major fake currency racket and seized counterfeit notes worth Rs. 6 million during a raid. The accused was caught red-handed while transporting fake notes that were being sold at just Rs. 16,000 for every Rs. 100,000.

According to officials, the raid was conducted after police received intelligence that a large consignment of forged notes had reached Karachi for local buyers. The accused, identified as Asfand was a resident of Peshawar and was intercepted on the road where his bag was found packed with bundles of fake notes.

SHO Gadap Sarfaraz Jatoi confirmed that the suspect admitted during interrogation that he had been running this illegal business for several months. He revealed that the notes were supplied from Dara Adamkhel, a hub for counterfeit currency production and distribution.

Asfand further confessed that he used to sell a bundle of fake notes valued at Rs. 100,000 for only Rs. 16,000 to Rs. 17,000. Couriers transporting the bundles from Darra to Karachi were paid Rs. 2,000 per packet. For his latest consignment of Rs. 6 million in fake notes, the suspect was expecting a payment of Rs. 120,000.

Police have launched a wider investigation using CCTV footage, mobile data and other evidence to trace the entire network behind this fake currency operation. More arrests are expected soon as teams are already active in tracking down the remaining members of the group.
