Islamabad, Oct 14: Fakhar Zaman defends Babar Azam after Test squad exclusion
Following the unexpected omission of Babar Azam from Pakistan’s lineup for the second and third Test matches against England, fellow cricket player Fakhar Zaman has come out in favor of the star batter.
In order to voice his worries, Fakhar used the social media platform X, drawing parallels between how India handled Virat Kohli’s slump.
Fakhar emphasised that India decided not to bench their skipper in spite of Kohli’s poor averages of 19.33, 28.21, and 26.50 between 2020 and 2023.
Rather, they persisted in their assistance, appreciating his worth and capacity for recovery. Fakhar Zaman defends Babar Azam, who are considered to be among the best batsmen in the nation, use Babar Azam in a similar manner.
Babar was left out, along with fast bowlers Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi, apparently in order to give them time to recover from an intense international schedule.
The decision has spurred discussion, though, with some contending that benching these three important players from such an important series could have a negative impact on team morale and output.
