Islamabad, Oct 9: FBR Chairman Announces Major Crackdown on Non-Filers Set to Launch in November. Rashid Mahmood Langrial, chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue , has ruled out extending the deadline for filing returns any further and issued a warning that a significant campaign against those who fail to file will begin the following month.
During a Wednesday interview with the media, Langrial made this statement. He disclosed that the regulatory body has gathered extensive information about people who have not submitted their tax returns. He claimed that the Prime Minister had given the Federal Board of Revenue instructions not to be lenient toward tax evaders.
The chairman of the FBR also disclosed that there are now over 4 million income tax returns, which is double what there were the previous year. He stressed that the deadline for filing income tax returns will not be extended, and that this time around, it is the same as it was last month.
It is important to note that FBR repeatedly stated there would be no extension until abruptly announcing one in September. The deadline for filing income tax returns is October 14, 2024.
