The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for filing Income Tax Returns for Tax Year 2025.

The new deadline for filing Income Tax Returns for Tax Year 2025 is now October 15, 2025.

“In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, the Federal Board of Revenue is pleased to communicate that the date of filing of Income Tax Return for Tax Year 2025, for the persons who were required to file their returns by September 30th, 2025 is extended to October 15th, 2025, in view of the requests from various trade bodies, taxpayers and tax bar associations,” the FBR said in a notification issued late on Tuesday.

Businessmen, trade chambers, tax professionals, and individual taxpayers had been urging the FBR to grant an extension for filing Income Tax Returns, citing various challenges faced in meeting the original deadline.

Despite these repeated requests, the FBR had consistently maintained that the deadline would remain unchanged.

The recent decision to extend the deadline comes as a relief to many, who were concerned about potential penalties and compliance difficulties.
