ISLAMABAD, JULY 18: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has effectively incorporated 8,949 major retailers into its Point of Sale (POS) system.As per the FBR’s list that was compiled until July 2024, 8,949 Tier-I retailers have enrolled with the POS system. 506 stores that sell leather goods and textiles are among the 644 eateries. A distinct set of information about POS system integration is included in the FBR’s Biannual Performance Report for July–December 2023–2024. According to the research, just 434 retailers had the POS system connected by December 2023. Here is the breakdown: Punjab has 234 retailers, the Federal Capital Territory has 99, Sindh has 81, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has 16, and Balochistan has 4.
The FBR chairman claims that over PKR 1 billion has been collected as a result of the FBR charging a fee of PKR 1 on each receipt. In order to reward participants who submitted POS receipts, the FBR held multiple computerized ballots during the PTI administration. Additionally, the organization informed the public about the significance of requesting FBR barcode receipts from businesses.
