Islamabad, Oct 27: FBR Receives 4.8 Million Income Tax Returns for FY24 to Date. 4.8 million income tax returns for the 2024 tax year have been submitted to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). Up until October 26, 2024, the tax office received 4.821 million income tax returns, 2.4 million more than the returns filed in FY2023. During FY2023 (up to October 26), 2.407 income tax returns were received by FBR.
Tax returns filed through October 26, 2024, brought in a total of Rs. 123 billion for the tax department. In FY2023, the tax agency collected Rs. 56.55 billion in taxes. As of right now, FBR has received 528,638 income tax returns from new taxpayers for FY2024. The FBR has issued a warning, stating that it would not allow income tax returns to be filed beyond October 31, 2024.
It is worth noting that on October 14, the filing date was moved to October 31, 2024. In order to meet their commitments without facing fines, taxpayers are urged to utilize this extension, which expires next week.
