Islamabad, May 29, 2025: Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Mirza Iftikhar Baig informed the National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue on Thursday that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) withdrew over Rs. 80 million from the bank accounts of Kababjees restaurant without providing the business any opportunity to be heard through proper legal channels.

Baig expressed concerns over what he described as harassment faced by the business sector due to such actions by the FBR. The business community is questioning me about this unjust move, he told the committee.

Responding to the issue, FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial assured the committee that he would investigate the circumstances surrounding the recovery of over Rs. 80 million from the Karachi-based restaurant’s accounts.
