Islamabad, July 31, 2025: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has launched a major crackdown targeting billions of rupees in tax evasion tied to the import of used and old cars under the guise of the Vehicle Baggage and Gift Schemes.
The FBR’s Anti-Benami Zone has identified a network of individuals allegedly importing vehicles on other people’s names, violating the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act.
Authorities believe this practice has caused significant revenue losses, with many importers exploiting legal loopholes to evade customs duties and taxes. The FBR is now actively pursuing cases and seizing assets, with calls for tighter regulations and oversight to prevent further abuse.

This operation follows earlier property-related seizures under the same law, as the FBR ramps up enforcement efforts nationwide. Officials say the crackdown will continue until full compliance is ensured and those involved are held accountable.
