Islamabad, Jan 28: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has been directed to compile and submit a comprehensive list of tax officials and their family members holding dual nationality to the Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet.

In a notification issued on Monday, the FBR instructed all Directors General and Chief Commissioners of Inland Revenue (IR) to urgently provide updated information regarding officers and staff who possess dual nationality. The directive also extends to the spouses of such officials, requiring detailed information to be shared with the Board.

The required data includes the name, designation, and Basic Pay Scale (BPS) of each individual, along with their date of entry into government service. Additionally, the report must specify the name of the foreign country whose nationality is held, whether the dual nationality was acquired by birth or otherwise, and the date on which it was obtained if not by birth.

For spouses of dual-nationality officials, the FBR has instructed that a separate list be prepared and submitted in the same specified format.The FBR emphasized that the data must be countersigned by the respective Chief Commissioners or Directors General to ensure accuracy and authenticity. The finalized lists are to be submitted to the FBR headquarters within a week.

This directive comes as part of the Senate Standing Committee’s initiative to enhance transparency and accountability within public institutions, particularly focusing on individuals in key government positions with dual national affiliations.
