Islamabad, 26 May, 2025: Pakistan’s Tallest Tower, the landmark Bahria Icon Tower in Karachi, is at the centre of a major enforcement action as the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced its public auction over a staggering tax default of Rs. 26.46 billion.
FBR Moves to Recover Billions in Tax Arrears
Pakistan’s Tallest Tower a prominent high-rise located in Clifton along with the Mall of Islamabad, is now listed for sale under Section 138(2)(a) of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, and Rule 162 of the Income Tax Rules, 2002.
The auction has been scheduled for June 19, 2025, at 11:00 am and will be held at the FBR’s Large Taxpayers’ Office in Islamabad, situated at Plot No. 20, Mauve Area, G-9/1.

The announcement was made shortly before the unveiling of the federal budget for fiscal year 2025–26. Authorities confirmed that the sale is part of a broader effort to enforce compliance with tax laws and recover substantial outstanding liabilities.
Major Assets on the Block
Pakistan’s Tallest Tower, a symbol of luxury and modern architecture in the country, is among the most valuable properties ever listed by the FBR for auction.
The Mall of Islamabad, another high-profile commercial asset, is also included in the same enforcement action.
Officials from the revenue board noted that this measure reflects the government’s zero-tolerance stance on chronic tax evasion, particularly in the real estate and construction sectors.
They added that the auction of such major assets is a necessary step to recover unpaid taxes and strengthen the country’s fiscal discipline.
