The federal government has announced the establishment of a Maritime Education Endowment Fund aimed at supporting deserving students from Pakistan’s coastal regions. The initiative was unveiled by Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, during a press briefing on Sunday.

The fund is designed to provide scholarships to students from underprivileged coastal communities, ensuring they have access to quality education and enhanced opportunities for a better future. Minister Chaudhry emphasized the government’s commitment to uplifting these marginalized areas by facilitating educational access.

“The goal is to provide access to standard education for students living in coastal areas,” the minister stated. He further added that while the initial focus will be on the coastal belt, the program plans to expand its reach nationwide in the near future.

To maintain full transparency and fairness, a special committee will be formed to oversee the scholarship selection process and distribution. The minister assured that the process will be conducted free from any form of discrimination, ensuring that only eligible and deserving students benefit from this scheme.

This scholarship initiative represents a significant step by the federal government towards promoting educational equity and supporting communities that have historically been underserved.
