Islamabad, Oct 4: Federal Government Set to Transfer Green Line Bus Service Operations to Sindh Government. In December 2024, the federal government will transfer control of the Green Line Bus Service to the government of Sindh.
According to a statement released on Friday, the Sindh government has completed the necessary steps to take over management of the Green Line’s operations. Sharjeel Inam Memon, the senior minister of Sindh, presided over a high-level meeting in Karachi. The meeting was attended by Transport Secretary Asad Zamin, Managing Director of Sindh Mass Transit Authority Kamal Hakeem Dayo, Trans Karachi CEO Shumaila Mohsin, and other authorities.
During the meeting, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon was given a detailed briefing on the Green Line project and the Green Line Bus Service’s activities were reviewed in detail.The plan to link the Orange Line project with the Green Line was also thoroughly discussed.
Sharjeel Inam Memon oversaw the project’s prompt completion during the meeting, which connected the Green Line with the Orange Line. The conference also included talks about utility services, subsidies for the Green Line Bus Service, and the Sindh Government’s continuing operations in the public transportation sector.
The Green Line project is an essential part of Karachi’s public transportation system, stressed Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, Mass Transit, Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Sharjeel Inam Memon during his speech at the conference. He affirmed that in December 2024, the Federal Government will turn over control of the Green Line project to the Sindh Government.
Before December 2024, he said, the Sindh Government wants to finish building the connection between the Green Line and the Orange Line. He mentioned that the Sindh Government will examine the 2 billion rupee yearly subsidy that the Federal Government currently provides for the Green Line’s operations.
In order to improve the effectiveness and caliber of transportation services for the populace, more buses will be added once the Federal Government transfers control of the Green Line project to the Sindh Government.
He went on to say that the ongoing public transportation initiatives that the Sindh government started had significantly relieved the public. In Karachi, public transportation has long been a problem. Our goal is to make as many improvements to the system as we can to give the people the most convenience and ease.
