Islamabad, June 27, 2025 The highly anticipated initiative to provide free electric scooters to thousands of female teachers across the province remains unfulfilled, as no funds have been earmarked for this purpose in the recently approved 2025-26 fiscal budget.

The School Education Department of Punjab had previously announced plans for this distribution, generating considerable hope among women educators.

Despite a public commitment made by the provincial education minister to extend this benefit to both school and college teachers, the absence of an allocation in the new budget has led to widespread disappointment and frustration among the teaching community.

Many female teachers have voiced their concerns, emphasizing that access to scooters would significantly ease their daily commute, especially in challenging traffic conditions. It helps them ensure timely arrival at schools. They have urged the education minister to honor the initial promise, highlighting the practical benefits such a scheme would offer to their professional lives.
