Islamabad, July 14, 2025: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has officially filed a First Information Report (FIR) against two of its own officers, accusing them of misusing their authority and asking for bribes from a suspect involved in the Afghan Entry Visa fraud case.
As per official records, FIA officer Waseem Ahmad was handling the inquiry into the Afghan Entry Visa scam. Waseem Ahmad had earlier obtained the physical custody of accused Zubair Ahmad through an order from the Judicial Magistrate in Islamabad, who approved the remand for investigation and evidence collection.
Between the night of July 10 and 11, 2025, Waseem Ahmad, along with Constable Aqib Mehmood, took Zubair Ahmad out of the Lock-Up and arranged a phone call with his son.
Both officials reportedly demanded Rs. 2 million from Zubair Ahmad’s son in return for easing the conditions during his remand and promising to send him to judicial custody once the remand period ended.

During the phone call, Waseem Ahmad allegedly helped delete important data from electronic gadgets seized earlier under Case FIR No. 242/2025. He did this by giving the passwords of the digital devices to Zubair’s son.
By using their official power wrongly, Waseem Ahmad (FIA AHTC Islamabad) and Constable Aqib Mehmood (FIA AHTC Islamabad) allegedly demanded bribes to give favors to the suspect.

Insiders say that top officials in the Ministry of Interior’s visa and border control departments are also being looked into for their roles in the Afghan visa fraud. The scam is believed to have been running for the past 3–4 years with help from some Ministry of Interior staff.
Sources also revealed that law enforcement teams are now checking data on renewed visas, as reports suggest that some officials are making illegal money from visa renewal processes too.
It is also reported that the government may soon make major changes in the Ministry of Interior due to ongoing administrative issues.
