The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has developed an artificial intelligence-powered application aimed at streamlining immigration processes and curbing smuggling activities across Pakistan’s airports and border points.
According to FIA officials, the AI-based system will help improve efficiency at entry and exit points by reducing manual processing, identifying suspicious travel patterns, and ensuring quicker passenger clearance. The technology is also designed to flag high-risk individuals and detect attempts to use fake documents or conceal smuggled goods.

The application has been integrated with FIA’s existing databases and linked with real-time passenger information systems, enabling immigration officers to make faster and more accurate decisions. Officials believe the use of AI will significantly minimize human error, speed up clearance for genuine travelers, and strengthen overall border security.
FIA has also partnered with other law enforcement agencies to ensure data-sharing and coordinated action against smuggling networks. Training sessions are being conducted for staff to effectively use the AI system.
The initiative comes as part of the government’s broader digital transformation strategy, focusing on enhancing security, improving governance, and adopting advanced technologies to tackle organized crime.
