The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has lifted the ban on the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), following the successful approval of constitutional amendments.
The suspension was revoked after the PFF endorsed the proposed amendments at an Extraordinary Congress held in Lahore last week.
Shahid Khokhar, a member of the PFF Normalisation Committee (NC), confirmed the development and thanked FIFA and AFC for their support of Pakistani football.
Shahid Khokhar, while expressing happiness, stated that the suspension was lifted after the PFF Congress passed the amendments.
Khokhar further acknowledged FIFA and AFC for their unwavering commitment to the betterment of the game of football in Pakistan.
In the Congress meeting, members unanimously agreed that accepting the FIFA-proposed amendments would likely result in the ban’s removal.
FIFA had previously made it clear that the suspension would only be lifted if the PFF Congress approved the constitution as presented by FIFA and the AFC.
The lifting of the ban could potentially allow the national football team to compete in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers, set to begin next month.
The AFC warned that if the suspension was not lifted by March 4, the national team would be considered withdrawn from the tournament.
