FIFA is expected to lift the ban on the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) after the governing body in the country approved proposed constitutional amendments.
According to a statement issued by PFF, the newly elected Congress endorsed proposed changes by Football Federation during an Extraordinary Congress meeting.
The session, held under the leadership of PFF President, Saud Azim Hashimi, focused on aligning the constitution of federation with the requirements FIFA.
Congress members emphasized that accepting the amendments was in best interest of Pakistan football, as it could lead to the lifting of the ban imposed by FIFA.
Earlier this month, FIFA had stated that its reversal depended on the approval of the revised PFF Constitution, drafted in collaboration with FIFA and the AFC.
The possible removal of the ban may also allow the national team of Pakistan to participate in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers, set to begin next month.
The high-profile Congress meeting saw the participation of senior FIFA and AFC officials, including AFC Deputy General Secretary Vahid Kardany.
Head of MA Governance of FIFA, Rolf Tanner, and Head of South Asia Unit Purushottam Kattel of AFC, NC members Muhammad Shahid Niaz Khokhar and Haris Azmat were also present.
Kardany commended Congress members for their commitment to implementing reforms and acknowledged the role of Normalization Committee in facilitating the process.
