ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb has left for the United States to attend the World Bank Group/IMF Spring Meetings, which are set to begin on Monday, April 21, and continue through Saturday, April 26, 2025.
During his trip, the Finance Minister is scheduled to hold important meetings with senior officials of both the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). These meetings will be crucial for discussing global economic trends, Pakistan’s economic situation, and ongoing efforts to strengthen international financial cooperation.
The Finance Minister will also engage in discussions with his counterparts from China, Britain, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.
These bilateral meetings will be vital for enhancing economic and financial ties between Pakistan and these nations.
Key Engagements and Discussions
A series of high-level meetings are lined up as part of the visit, including with senior officials from the US State and Treasury Departments.
These sessions will focus on economic issues of mutual interest, particularly with regard to fiscal policies and international economic cooperation.
In addition to government officials, Finance Minister Aurangzeb will meet with global credit rating agencies, commercial banks, and investment firms.
These interactions are expected to provide valuable insights into Pakistan’s financial standing and the country’s investment potential.
Focus on Pakistan’s Economic Outlook and Reforms
One of the key aspects of the visit will be the Finance Minister’s participation in a roundtable discussion hosted by Jefferies International.
The session will focus on Pakistan’s Economic Outlook, recent fiscal and monetary developments, the ongoing reforms, and Pakistan’s engagement with the IMF.

Additionally, the Minister will address a session organized by the Center for Global Development (CGD) to shed light on the ongoing reforms in Pakistan and the challenges that lie ahead.

Meetings with Global Institutions and Key Figures
The Finance Minister is also scheduled to meet with Ms. Garji Ghosh, President of the Global Policy and Advocacy Division at the Gates Foundation, to discuss potential collaborations in key areas of economic development and poverty alleviation.
Another notable engagement during the visit will be with Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, who serves as the Special Advisor to the UN Secretary-General on Fiscal Health and is also the Honorary Patron of the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion.
The meeting is expected to focus on financial inclusion strategies and the role of fiscal health in achieving sustainable development.
Participation in Ministerial Meetings and Think Tank Discussions
Minister Aurangzeb will also attend the 13th Ministerial Meeting of the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action, which will address the role of finance ministers in tackling climate change and supporting global climate action.
