Islamabad, Aug 15, 2025: Breaking barriers, Dubai Police has made history by promoting Colonel Samira Abdullah Al Ali as the first female brigadier in 69 years. The achievements, a landmark in its own right, was declared as per the instruction of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and form a great milestone in the path of women in uniform.
Brigadier Al Ali also held the accomplishment as a point of pride that was dedicated to the leadership of the UAE in admiring the ongoing support of women in the arena of policing. The accolade, she said, available to every women that are serving in Dubai Police, shows the extent of dedication and determination.
With more than 31 years of service, Brigadier Al Ali currently leads the Insurance Department, a division she helped establish from scratch into a regional benchmark. She is also a leader who is the face of the first female commander of an all male team working in the General Department of Transport and Rescue.

The selectivity of the first female brigadier within 69 years illustrates the extent of the Dubai Police toward women empowerment and diversity in the law enforcement field. Her career acts as a motivating tool to would-be women officers in the UAE as well as the European Middle East.
