Islamabad, July 21, 2025: The Functional Committee on Devolution, National Heritage, and Culture has chosen five important historical and cultural sites in Pakistan to be nominated for the UNESCO World Archaeological Heritage List.

As shared by the National Heritage and Culture Division, the selected sites are Bhambhore Port, the Qarez System in Balochistan, Nagarparkar Cultural Landscape, Rani Ghat, and Hiran Minar. These nominations aim to bring global attention to Pakistan’s rich history and help boost tourism.

In a separate briefing about Rawat Fort, the committee was told that repair work at the fort started in 2017. There is also a mosque in use just behind the fort. When the authorities tried to charge an entry fee, it upset local people especially those who come to pray at the mosque. This even led to protests after ticketing began.
