Islamabad, June 24, 2025: In a major development, the Punjab government has directed the Rawalpindi district administration to complete the remaining work on Nawaz Sharif Flyover service roads and the GPO underpass on The Mall within the next seven days. This directive is part of a broader push to improve infrastructure and traffic flow in the heart of the city.
A senior district official revealed that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has been requested to formally inaugurate the newly constructed flyover and underpass once the final touches are completed. He confirmed that while the GPO underpass construction is in its last phase, road carpeting will be completed within two to three days.
The Nawaz Sharif Flyover, already open to vehicular traffic, is undergoing final work on its service roads, which are expected to be completed before the week’s end.
Additionally, under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2024–25, the Punjab government has initiated 155 development projects in Rawalpindi, worth a staggering Rs. 49 billion. So far, 22 projects have been completed, while the rest are progressing at a fast pace.
Officials believe that the timely completion of road projects in Rawalpindi will significantly boost traffic management, enhance urban connectivity, and bring long-term relief to commuters. The Mall, being one of the city’s busiest arteries, is expected to benefit greatly from these strategic upgrades.
As Rawalpindi continues to evolve into a modern urban center, these projects represent a firm step towards infrastructure development, urban planning, and efficient governance in Punjab.
