Islamabad, July 14, 2025: Saudi Arabia has officially allowed foreigners to drive in the Kingdom using their international or foreign driving license for up to one year, or until the license expires—whichever comes first.

This rule, confirmed by the General Directorate of Traffic, applies only if the license is valid and matches the vehicle type being driven.

A certified translation of the foreign license is mandatory to ensure accurate verification. However, this policy excludes GCC citizens, who can drive with a valid license from their home country for the full duration of its validity, without needing a Saudi license.

Importantly, international driving permits issued by GCC countries are not valid for driving across Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia.
