Following the launch of the Traffic Regulation and Citation System (TRACS) for issuing online traffic challans in Karachi, fraudsters have begun exploiting the system to deceive citizens.

Reports indicate that residents are receiving fake SMS messages regarding traffic fines, with scammers attempting to extort money from them.

The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic has warned the public that any e-challan messages being received via SMS in Karachi should be treated as fraudulent.

He advised citizens to verify challans only through official channels and avoid responding to suspicious messages.

After the implementation of the e-challan system by the Traffic Police, another 4,301 electronic challans were issued within 24 hours on the second day. In the span of two days, a total of 10,000 e-challans were issued, resulting in an additional financial burden of over Rs. 20 million on the public.
