Applications for the program were invited earlier this month, attracting more than 650 applicants. The submission deadline was August 10. Eligibility criteria include an upper age limit of 35 years, and both permanent and contract teachers were encouraged to apply. Priority was given to widows, divorced women, and teachers who are the sole earners of their households.
The e-bikes will be distributed through a computerized ballot system to ensure transparency. Earlier, as part of Independence Day celebrations, the district administration, with support from donors, handed out e-bikes to 14 female teachers.
