Pakistan and Iran are advancing a series of development projects aimed at boosting cross-border trade and regional connectivity, as part of ongoing efforts linked to their upcoming Pakistan-Iran Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

The final text of the FTA is currently under review by Pakistani authorities and is expected to receive formal approval soon.

During a recent meeting between Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan and Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri-Moghaddam, both sides discussed the progress of development initiatives supporting trade and transport between the two neighbouring nations.

The minister shared that multiple cross-border projects are being implemented to strengthen economic ties. These include the reactivation of the Mand-Pishin Joint Border Market, which became operational in July 2025 and the planned launch of two more markets at Chegdi-Kouhak and Gabd-Reemdan to enhance local business opportunities.
