Islamabad, Mar 9. 2025: The Meteorological Department has projected that a weather system is likely to approach the northern regions of the country today, with an anticipated intensification from March 12 and expected to last until March 16.
According to the forecast, this weather pattern will bring rainfall and snowfall in hilly areas of Islamabad, Murree, Galliyat, Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan throughout the upcoming week.
Several regions are likely to experience precipitation, including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Mastung, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Chagai, Nushki, Barkhan, Khuzdar, Harnai, Zhob, and Sherani in Balochistan. Additionally, areas in southern Punjab, such as Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bahawalnagar, Okara, Bhakkar, Layyah, Kot Addu, Multan, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, and Rahim Yar Khan, are expected to witness similar weather conditions.
Moreover, cities in Sindh, including Kashmore, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, and Larkana, could experience rainfall and snowfall on March 14 and 15.
Due to these weather conditions, roads may become slippery or even closed in areas such as Murree, Galliyat, Naran, Kaghan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, and Haveli on March 10 and between March 12 and 15. Furthermore, the Meteorological Department has issued warnings regarding potential landslides and avalanches in the mountainous regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir during this timeframe.
There is also a likelihood of hailstorms occurring in select areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northern Punjab, Islamabad, and Kashmir.
