Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz met former Thai PM Thaksin Shinawatra at a dinner in Bangkok, discussing trade, investment and stronger Pakistan–Thailand ties.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif was hosted at a dinner in Bangkok by Thailand’s former Prime Minister and well-known businessman Thaksin Shinawatra. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, who also served as Thailand’s youngest female prime minister, was present at the event.
Thaksin warmly welcomed Maryam and sent his best wishes to her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He praised both father and daughter for their dedication to public service, saying their struggle for the people was inspiring.

Maryam Nawaz thanked the Shinawatra family and admired their efforts to bring progress to Thailand through reforms and welfare projects. She said the friendship between Pakistan and Thailand is based on respect, cooperation, and shared goals, especially in trade and development.
She highlighted opportunities for partnership in textiles, agriculture, tourism, and technology, and invited Thai businesses to invest in Punjab. Maryam also spoke about the importance of education, culture, and tourism in bringing the people of both countries closer.
She added that Punjab is preparing its youth with modern digital skills, in line with her vision of a progressive and innovative province. At the end of the evening, Maryam Nawaz thanked Thaksin and Paetongtarn for their hospitality and invited them to visit Punjab soon.
