Islamabad, July 14, 2025: President of Pakistan has issued the Frontier Constabulary Reorganization Ordinance 2025 on Monday. According to the new ordinance, the Frontier Constabulary will now be known as the Federal Constabulary.
The purpose of this ordinance is to expand the authority of the force across the entire country. After approval of amendments in the FC Act of 1915, this ordinance has been officially issued.
As per the ordinance, the Federal Constabulary will now have the power to operate in all four provinces and Islamabad. It will also have the authority to work in Azad Jammu and Kashmir as well as Gilgit-Baltistan.
The Inspector General of the Federal Constabulary will be appointed by the federal government. Rules will be made to manage the Federal Constabulary, and each division will have a Wing Commander appointed.

The rank of the Wing Commander will be equal to that of a Deputy Inspector General. The federal government will also be allowed to recruit a Federal Reserve Force to maintain law and order when needed. The Federal Constabulary will be responsible for handling riots, maintaining internal security, counter-terrorism operations, and providing protection.

There will be two main divisions within the Federal Constabulary: one for security and the other for the Federal Reserve Force. Recruitment for this new force will take place across the country, and offices will be set up nationwide for this purpose.
According to the reorganization framework, officers from the Police Service of Pakistan will lead and command the Federal Constabulary.
