Islamabad, July 2, 2025: Good news for Pakistani students planning to do a PhD abroad. The Rosa Luxemburg Foundation in Germany has opened its scholarship for 2025-26, welcoming students from Pakistan and around the world.
This scholarship helps young scholars work on research linked to social justice and democratic values, which the Foundation strongly supports. It’s one of the well-known scholarship programs in Germany, linked to DIE LINKE, a political group focused on fairness and equal rights.
Who Should Apply
The opportunity is open to anyone starting or already enrolled in a PhD at a recognised university in Germany, Switzerland, or any EU country. Students who plan to spend some research time in Germany can also apply.
Applicants must show a good academic track record and be able to write and speak German at B2 level. Your PhD topic should connect with ideas like democratic socialism, equality, and social responsibility. The program is open to all fields except medicine.
Scholarship Package
Students will receive a monthly grant of 1,400 euros to cover living expenses. There’s also a mobility allowance of 100 euros plus a small amount for extra needs.
Along with financial support, scholars will get to live in Germany and experience its culture, modern cities, and historic places. Many also build strong contacts for their careers and learn from top researchers in their fields.
