The Galaxy S25 FE is the fifth addition to Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S25 family, set to make its debut on September 4 during the Galaxy Unpacked online event. Staying true to the Fan Edition tradition, this model aims to bring several premium features of the main Galaxy S25 series at a more budget-friendly price.

This year, however, the S25 FE stands out even more with four key enhancements that make it one of the most anticipated phones in Samsung’s lineup.

One UI 8 with Android 16 out of the box

One of the biggest advantages of the Galaxy S25 FE is that it will ship with One UI 8 based on Android 16 right from day one. Interestingly, the other Galaxy S25 models launched earlier with One UI 7 (Android 14), giving the FE a distinct software edge.

Since Samsung now guarantees seven years of major Android and One UI updates for its premium devices, the Galaxy S25 FE is expected to receive one more OS upgrade compared to the S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, and S25 Edge. This is only the second time in history that an FE phone comes with newer software than its siblings—the first being the Galaxy S21 FE in 2022.

Larger 4,900 mAh battery

Samsung continues its trend of boosting battery life across its devices. The first three FE phones carried a 4,500 mAh battery, while last year’s Galaxy S24 FE upgraded to 4,700 mAh. Now, the Galaxy S25 FE takes it further with a 4,900 mAh cell.

Whether this increase is a user-focused upgrade or simply because Samsung reused the same battery as the S25+, the outcome remains the same: improved endurance and longer usage time compared to previous FE editions.

Better 12MP selfie camera

The Galaxy S25 FE finally enhances the selfie experience by moving from the 10MP sensor seen in earlier FE phones to a sharper 12MP front camera. This matches the front shooters on the Galaxy S24 and S25 models, suggesting similar performance in selfies and video calls.

With the latest One UI 8 software, the new front camera is also expected to support advanced features such as log video recording, giving content creators more flexibility.

45W fast charging support

Borrowing a premium feature from the S25+ and S25 Ultra, the Galaxy S25 FE now supports 45W super-fast charging. While Samsung’s 25W phones typically reach 50% in about half an hour, the S25 FE is expected to shave that time down by 10–15%.

Do note that buyers will need to purchase a 45W charger separately, as Samsung won’t include one in the box. Still, this combination of a larger battery and faster charging ensures a much better daily user experience.

The Galaxy S25 FE offers a rare mix of affordability and flagship-level features, from Android 16 and One UI 8 at launch to a bigger battery, sharper selfie camera, and faster charging. Samsung’s strategy makes the S25 FE one of the most exciting phones of 2025, and it could very well be the Fan Edition that truly lives up to its name.
