As winter approaches, Islamabad residents are facing early gas load shedding, with supplies restricted to specific hours, raising alarms over inconsistent availability.
According to the latest schedule from Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), gas will be available from 5:30 AM to 8:30 AM, 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM, and 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. However, reports indicate that many areas are still without gas even by 5:30 AM, fueling frustration among households.
This schedule aligns with SNGPL’s winter plan for 2025, which outlines similar timings across northern Pakistan, including Islamabad, to manage increased demand. The early implementation, noted in local Urdu reports and posts found on X, reflects a preemptive measure ahead of the colder months when gas usage typically surges.
Yet, the delay in supply before the designated morning slot has sparked complaints, with residents highlighting disruptions to daily routines.

SNGPL officials have attributed occasional shortages to technical issues and high demand, assuring full-pressure supply during scheduled hours. The situation echoes past winters, with some areas experiencing low pressure even during allotted times, a concern echoed by the Rawalpindi Naanbhais Welfare Association. As the capital braces for harsher weather, calls for improved distribution and reliability grow louder among affected communities.
