Islamabad, Apr 2, 2025: The German Consulate General in Karachi has introduced a new procedure for booking Schengen and long-term visa appointments. Due to the overwhelming demand, individuals can no longer schedule appointments directly.
Instead, a waiting list system has been implemented, requiring applicants to register their details in advance. Appointments will be assigned sequentially based on availability, which may lead to extended processing times, potentially causing difficulties for those with urgent travel needs.
The consulate has stated that this new arrangement is designed to ensure a more organized and equitable distribution of appointment slots.
It has advised applicants to meticulously fill out the waiting list registration form with accurate and complete information.
Appointments will only be allotted once all required details are properly submitted and verified.
Additionally, the consulate has explicitly mentioned that there is no necessity for third-party assistance in the registration process, as enrolling in the waiting list is entirely free of charge.

This measure aims to prevent fraudulent activities and unnecessary expenses for applicants.
However, the revised policy does not apply to individuals applying under the Opportunity Card/Chancenkarte category, who will still be able to book their appointments directly.
This announcement, issued on March 25, 2025, highlights the consulate’s efforts to streamline the visa processing system in response to increasing demand.
By implementing these changes, the consulate seeks to enhance efficiency and fairness while addressing the challenges posed by a growing number of applicants.
