Islamabad, July 29, 2025: In a surprising move, the German consulate in Karachi has suspended all visa services indefinitely, leaving many Pakistani applicants in uncertainty. The announcement was made via an official notice on Monday, citing “unavoidable circumstances” as the cause for the abrupt halt.
This indefinite suspension affects all visa categories including student visas, work permits, family reunion applications, and tourist visas for Germany. The development is expected to impact hundreds of Pakistanis planning to travel to Germany for education, employment, or personal visits.
Despite the disruption, the consulate confirmed that services for European Union (EU) citizens will continue as normal, ensuring that those holding EU passports can still access consular assistance and travel documentation.
No official timeline has been shared for when services might resume, nor has the consulate revealed specific reasons behind the suspension. The lack of clarity has raised concerns among visa applicants, especially students with approaching academic deadlines in Germany.
