Islamabad, Apr 12, 2025: Gujarat Titans have been dealt another blow in their IPL 2025 campaign, as Glenn Phillips has been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament due to a groin injury.
The former champions confirmed that the New Zealand cricketer has returned home, with no replacement named so far by the franchise.
The injury occurred during the recent match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad on April 6 where Gujarat Titans defeated Sunrisers by seven wickets.

Though Phillips had not featured in the playing XI this season, he came on as a substitute fielder in the sixth over of Sunrisers Hyderabad innings.
Just minutes later, he appeared to pull his groin while throwing the ball, immediately clutching the injured area and hobbling off the field with assistance.
Phillips is the second overseas player to exit the Titans squad within a week.
Earlier, Kagiso Rabada returned home on April 3 to attend to a personal matter. His return remains uncertain, and no replacement has been named for him either.
With Phillips and Rabada out, Gujarat Titans — currently leading the points table with four wins from five games — are left with just five overseas options.

Jos Buttler, Rashid Khan, and Sherfane Rutherford have been regulars in the starting XI.
The squad also includes Afghanistan all-rounder Karim Janat and South African fast bowler Gerald Coetzee.
However, Coetzee is still recovering from an injury that had sidelined him from the SA20 and the Champions Trophy earlier this year.
Despite these challenges, Gujarat Titans have maintained strong form in the tournament.
The franchise will now need to assess its limited overseas resources carefully as it aims to maintain momentum in the coming fixtures.
