Islamabad, June 28, 2025: The Pakistani passport has seen a notable improvement in its global standing, now offering citizens visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 32 countries. This positive development comes as the passport’s global ranking jumped to 100th position, a significant leap from its 113th spot in 2021, according to the latest data from international ranking platform Henley & Partners.
Pakistani passport ranking has improved recently. It is seen as a direct reflection of Pakistan’s strengthened diplomatic efforts and evolving international relations. It signals growing confidence in the country’s global standing.
The good news follows closely on the heels of a significant agreement between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Just days ago, both nations signed a pact allowing holders of diplomatic and official passports to travel between the two countries without needing a visa.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed the agreement on X, stating he signed the “mutual visa exemption for the holders of diplomatic and official passports of our two countries” with his UAE counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.
“This important step reflects our shared resolve to further strengthen our fraternal ties and deepen institutional collaboration across all levels,” Dar added.
The bilateral arrangement eliminates pre-travel visa formalities for eligible travelers, further solidifying the diplomatic ties between Islamabad and Abu Dhabi.
Officials believe this move of the Pakistani passport ranking improvement will streamline high-level official engagements and showcase increasing trust and cooperation between Pakistan and the UAE.
This agreement was finalized after both countries signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) during the 12th session of the Pakistan-UAE Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC).
