Islamabad, July 31, 2025: Karakoram Highway road restoration is now complete as the National Highway Authority (NHA) successfully reopened all major routes across northern Pakistan, including vital road links in Gilgit-Baltistan, after they were severely damaged by recent heavy rainfall.

Under emergency orders, NHA mobilized teams and equipment without delay to restore traffic flow on affected highways. The prompt action ensured that key tourist and trade routes like the Karakoram Highway (KKH), Babusar Top, and the Jaglot–Skardu Road were made functional within record time.

Federal Secretary for Communications, Ali Sher Mehsud, visited the repaired sites personally. Driving through Chilas, Mansehra, Khunjerab Pass, and Skardu, he reviewed the work done and confirmed that all roads are now safe for travel, with traffic moving smoothly in both directions.

In his official video message, Mehsud praised the field teams for their tireless efforts. “Despite the scale of destruction, our engineers and workers completed the mission swiftly, showcasing their dedication and efficiency,” he said. A comprehensive report on the rehabilitation progress has already been shared with Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan.

Over 90% of the total road restoration work had been completed earlier this week. Major routes like the N-15, which connects the scenic towns of Kaghan and Naran, are now fully operational, reviving tourism and easing logistics for residents and visitors alike.

With this swift and effective response, Karakoram Highway road restoration sets a new benchmark in crisis management and infrastructure resilience in Pakistan’s northern regions.
