Islamabad, July 2, 2025: Google marked the debut of its latest “AI Mode” on Tuesday featuring with a dedicated Google Doodle. The illustration – visible on Chrome’s new tab page across various devices – highlighted Google’s updated gradient logo and linked users to its revamped AI Mode, which the company described as its “most advanced AI search” to date.
Google had initially launched AI-generated search results last year, leading to some odd responses. The trend has continued into 2025, with AI Overviews occasionally struggling to respond to straightforward queries.
However, this upgraded AI-based search function is designed to assist users with their “most challenging inquiries.” Here’s a breakdown of how it functions.
What Is Google AI Mode?
AI Mode is a fresh search enhancement from Google that aims to offer instant responses to queries. It combines AI-generated replies with summaries from external web content, along with appropriate source links.

This innovation utilizes Gemini 2.5, a refined version of Google’s primary AI engine. The system condenses collected information into brief answers. Users can now ask questions using text, voice, or even images – making it a multimodal experience.
Robby Stein, Google’s Vice President of Search, explained that AI Mode is “especially useful for questions requiring deeper analysis, comparison, and logical thinking.”

“You can now pose more complex queries that might have needed several searches before — like understanding a new topic or weighing different choices — and receive a smart AI-driven summary with links for further details,” Stein noted.
How to Access AI Mode?
AI Mode is currently available broadly in the United States and is under testing in India. Users can try it by:
- Visiting Google’s homepage and selecting AI Mode next to the search bar.
- Going to: google.com/aimode.
- Using the Google mobile app and tapping AI Mode on the main screen.
A global launch could follow soon, though no formal announcement has been made yet.
