Islamabad, June 19, 2025: In a bold move to reshape how users interact with its platform, Google has introduced a new voice-first feature called “Search Live” for its Google app on iOS and Android. Initially exclusive to users in the United States, this feature brings a more natural, conversational way of searching the web, aligning with the company’s broader push into AI-driven search tools.

What Makes Google Search Live Stand Out?

Unlike traditional voice search, Search Live allows users to engage in real-time, back-and-forth voice conversations with Google’s AI. No typing, no pausing — just fluid dialogue. By tapping the Live icon in the app, users can ask questions, receive results with clickable web links, and even follow up without starting over.

Ideal for multitasking or quick queries while on the move, the tool also includes a Transcript feature, letting users switch to text mode at any point. Users can also access previous conversations through AI Mode history, picking up exactly where they left off.

Is It Gemini Live in Disguise?

Though it sounds a lot like Gemini Live, Google insists Search Live runs on a customized Gemini model built specifically for voice. Still, the overlap in capabilities—such as upcoming camera integration to let users “show” the AI their environment—raises questions about whether the two services are truly distinct or just split for testing purposes.

With plans to integrate camera-based AI interaction, Google Search Live is clearly aiming for an all-in-one, intelligent assistant experience. As it evolves, it may either replace or merge with Gemini Live. For now, it marks a significant step in Google’s AI transformation of mobile search.
