Islamabad, Feb 13: Google is reportedly developing an advanced security feature for Chrome that could automatically replace compromised passwords with stronger AI-generated alternatives. This enhancement would go beyond the current system, which only alerts users when their stored credentials are involved in a data breach.
A well-known software researcher, Leopeva64, uncovered this upcoming “Automated Password Change” feature in an early version of Chrome under AI settings. According to the description, when Chrome detects a compromised password, it will not only notify the user but also generate and store a more secure replacement automatically. This eliminates the hassle of manually updating affected credentials.
As highlighted by Windows Report, the update aims to streamline security management by integrating automatic password changes. Google Password Manager will securely store the new credentials, ensuring seamless future logins while maintaining encryption and privacy protections.
Although Google describes this as an “AI innovation,” the specific role of artificial intelligence in the process remains unclear. AI may play a part in generating complex passwords, managing updates across multiple platforms, or refining security recommendations for users. By leveraging AI, Google seeks to enhance password security while reducing user intervention.
