Islamabad, Apr 17, 2025: In a surprising and welcome shift, Google has officially made its Gemini Live screensharing tool available at no cost to all Android users.
The tech giant initially planned this advanced feature as an exclusive perk for Gemini Advanced paid subscribers, but it has now opened access to a broader audience.
Users stream their device screen and camera feed in real time using Gemini Live, an intelligent AI-powered screensharing feature.
This allows Google’s virtual assistant to visually understand the user’s environment and provide tailored, on-the-spot support and recommendations based on what it sees.
Google first introduced the feature earlier this month and initially limited it to flagship devices like the Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S25.
Google had indicated that broader access would require a paid subscription.
However, due to overwhelmingly positive feedback from early users, the company decided to offer the feature freely to the entire Android ecosystem.

The expansion of Gemini Live is already underway and will reach more users in the coming weeks via updates to the Gemini app.
Google has not detailed exact hardware requirements or minimum Android versions, but it expects most modern devices to support it.
To highlight the benefits of Gemini Live, Google shared a demo video showcasing everyday uses, such as identifying sea creatures in an aquarium or receiving immediate help while navigating visually demanding tasks.
The tool demonstrates strong potential in areas where real-time visual assistance can make a significant difference.
This move comes amidst growing competition in the AI assistant market, with Microsoft recently unveiling Copilot Vision—a similar tool that’s also free and integrated with its Edge browser.
By eliminating the paywall, Google appears to be focusing on rapid adoption and user engagement rather than immediate revenue, possibly laying the groundwork for premium AI features down the line.
Android users eager to try Gemini Live should ensure their Gemini app is up to date through the Google Play Store.
As the rollout continues, it’s advisable to check for updates regularly to gain access as soon as it’s available for their specific device.
With this strategic update, Google reinforces its position at the forefront of AI innovation, aiming to deliver smarter, more responsive tools for users worldwide.
