Islamabad, Sep 28: Google Messages Users Receiving Texts about New Gemini AI Feature. Gemini AI is now widely used in Google products and services, and it’s even powering a lot of products from competitors. This occurs while the majority of IT companies are rushing to include generative AI into their goods.
Although businesses should freely advertise their goods, particularly when they are pertinent, there is a line that many people feel shouldn’t be crossed, and it appears Google may have passed it.
Google is reportedly “encouraging” customers to investigate Gemini by sending them a message via the Google Messages app, according to a report by 9to5Google. Google is sending these communications in a way similar to a regular text message rather than a splash screen or an official invitation as though from a relative or acquaintance. This strategy has drawn criticism because it seems a little invasive and dubious.
According to the screenshot, customers get a message in Google Messages that says, “Hello, my name is Gemini.” Chat with me to organize events, generate ideas, draft messages, or just to have a good time.
To be honest, this is going too far. It seems dishonest and invasive for Google to promote Gemini as though it were a message from a friend. A formal invitation would have been appropriate, but this tactic betrays mistrust.
Fortunately, you can disable it by accessing the Gemini section of Google Messages’ settings, selecting it, and then deselecting the “Show Gemini” checkbox. Positively, RCS is now accessible on iOS 18 and iPhones. Finally, high-quality photos and movies may be shared across Android and iPhone users.
