Islamabad, Feb 16: Environmental authorities and federal and provincial food regulators have agreed to collaborate on tackling parallel trade and counterfeit products while enhancing regulatory efficiency. The decision came during a high-level conference focused on improving Pakistan’s business environment and sustainability.
Key government bodies, including the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), Board of Investment (BOI), Pakistan Standards & Quality Control Authority (PSQCA), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Ministry of Commerce, Provincial Food Authorities, National Tariff Commission, and members of the Senate, actively participated in the discussions.

The conference, titled “Unlocking Business Potential: Navigating Ease of Doing Business in Pakistan,” was organized by BFNC, CoRe, and FJC, bringing together political leaders, government agencies, and private sector representatives. Discussions revolved around regulatory harmonization, digital solutions, export facilitation, counterfeit product control, and packaging and environmental regulations.
One of the key outcomes was an agreement on the implementation of smart, harmonized environmental regulations and streamlined provincial tax structures to promote compliance and sustainability. Stakeholders stressed the importance of simplifying regulations to foster business growth while ensuring consumer protection.
The collaborative efforts outlined during the event signal a proactive approach to addressing long-standing regulatory challenges, reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to improving its business climate and ensuring product quality and safety.
